Mid-term Writing Test.
Danny Boyle’s last movie, Slumdog Millionnaire, has surprised everybody at the Oscars ceremony by winning eight awards. I think that this movie deserved the Oscar for the best movie because it was different from the other nominated movies. I think this is true for two reasons. First, this movie was original by it’s unusual structure. Second, at the opposite of the other movies, it was not made especially to win Oscars.
In first place, Slumdog Millionnaire is a very original movie. It’s structure is unlike any other movie. The others motion pictures that were nominated all had a very common structure. For example, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, like Slumdog Millionnaire, was the story of an unlucky boy who made his way through life. The story is linear; it begins with the birth of the principal character and ends with his death. The movie is interspersed with scenes of daughter reading the story to her mother. However, it dosen’t bring anything to the movie and I even thought that it made it more boring and i twas very cliché. On the other hand, the structure of Slumdog Millionnaire is making the audience really nervous and excited; it brings something to the story. It is very original to get to know the life of the main character through questions of the game Who Wants To Be A Millionnaire.
In second place, I think that Slumdog millionnaire is one of the rare nominated movies that was not made especially to win Oscars. Danny Boyle is an English director and he is, therefore, not used to win oscars. The Reader, in my opinion, was not a bad movie but we could see that it was only made for Kate Winslet to win an Oscar. Benjamin Button was that kind of movie too. It included some people very used to receive Oscars like Brad Pitt, David Fincher and the screenwriter that wrote Forest Gump. This proves that Slumdog Millionnaire was made because of the inspiration of the director, who was not seeking awards. Also, the fact that there isn’t any famous actor in the movie has given an excellent opportunity to poor indian children to show their talent and earn money.
Finally, I find the movie Slumdog Millionnaire very refreshing because of it’s special and breathtaking script and for the really artistic approach of the director that was not seeking any awards for this movie. This year, I was actually very surprised because I agreed to almost all the Acadamy choices, for the first time of my life. I am very happy that foreing movies won what they deserved, for once.

Sylvianne's profile
I would like to introduce you to Sylvianne. I am going to tell you about her goals, her achievements, her interests, her social network and her skills. Sylvianne is a cinema student at Saint-Laurent College. Her goal is to pursue her dream and find a job in this domain. It is really hard to find an interesting and creative job in the field of communication in Québec, because it is a very small field with few opportunities. It is also rare that people can find a job in their field of interest, and sylvianne's main interest is communication. She also like dramatic arts and dance. She's really proud of the theater piece that she did in secondary five, at school. She had the role of an aristocrat. She still talks to the people that played in that piece but she has a lot of new friends at school. She has a boyfriend that goes to Saint-Laurent cegep also. She lives with her parents and have a little brother. She is a very talented person: she has taken dance courses for 3 years and have taken dramatic arts during all high school. Finally, Sylvianne is a very creative girl who has a bright future ahead !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
